We Present: The New TUNBottle.
Less Emissions, More Value.

Setting New Standards

TUNAP GROUP's vision has always been to contribute to a better world by developing sustainable solutions in the area of cleaning, protection and care. With our latest development, the new TUNBottle, we have consistently followed this approach.

Through the most convenient application of the product, a sustainable disposal of the packaging and by reducing CO2, we have developed a packaging alternative that is as sustainable as possible due to our options. Furthermore, the performance of the additives proves once again that we have created a top-notch chemical solution in proven TUNAP quality.

Proven TUNAP Quality in a New Shape

A Unique and Innovative Design

Since the early years of TUNAP we have been creating unique additives. Now it was time to think about a unique packaging. The idea of the shape arose by looking at the heart of the vehicle: the engine.

By turning the component of the injector the basic shape of the TUNBottle was born. Visually, it is the consistent equivalent to the engine component.

The new shape also has very practical advantages when used: The bottle neck now perfectly matches the dimensions of the fuel pistol to overcome the misfuelling inhibitor.

In addition to the innovative design and practical application, it should not be unmentioned that the additive is of course still characterized by highest product quality - just as you are used to from TUNAP.

Supporting a Circular Economy

Giving PET a New Life

Over the last years the circular economy model has been gaining ground in politics, industry and society. The concept of circular economy is grounded on a simple idea: repair, reuse, recycle.

Our approach is based on this concept, that is to give plastic a second life and to re-evaluate the material preventing it from entering the biosphere.

Made of 80% Recycled PET

With the new TUNBottle, we have succeeded in developing a packaging solution that is made of 80% recycled PET material.

This enabled us to reduce the amount of synthetic raw materials to a minimum. After use, 100% of the TUNBottle is returned to the recycling system.

A More Sustainable Solution

One of our main motives for the development of the new packaging for the injector direct protection products was creating a more sustainable solution. The switch from the former tinplate packaging to recycled PET has brought us a decisive step closer to this goal.

Not only is the production of PET less energy-intensive than the production of tinplate bottles. Additional energy saving potential results from the significantly lower weight of a PET bottle - which results in lower fuel consumption and less wear and tear on the transport vehicle.

Cooperation with ClimatePartner

We are aware of the fact that no matter how much greenhouse gases we reduce, there will always be a certain amount of residual emissions. Nevertheless, the TUNBottle is our first 100% climate neutral packaging.

To achieve this goal we chose to take responsibilty and cooperate with ClimatePartner, an organization that supports and promotes climate protection projects worldwide. With our offset projects we support a plastic free ocean and the building of wind energy opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does TUNAP change to PET bottles?

With the new packaging, we want to make the application easier for our customers. In the previous packaging, a spout had to be laboriously mounted to the tinplate can before filling. The TUNBottle requires no additional spout when filling the product into the tank. With the new bottle, the misfuelling inhibitor is overcome without any effort - the technical specifications meet the requirements. This saves additional material and time.

In which bottle size is the TUNBottle available?

The TUNBottle is (currently) available in one bottle size: with a capacity of 200 ml for the fuel variants diesel (984) and petrol (974). The filling amount usually reaches to the bottom of the bottleneck.

How was the design of the TUNBottle developed?

The bottle design of the new TUNBottle is modelled on the outline of an injector. Turning around the component the shape of a bottle is recognizable. Thus, the application of the product is now reflected in the design of the bottle, too. In addition, the new shape also scores from handling perspective – the bottle lies quite comfortable in the hand.

For whom offers the new TUNBottle advantages?

The new packaging offers advantages for the user and the environment. Looking at the application, the TUNBottle is much easier to handle. No additional spout is necessary, a clean filling is possible as well as odour prevention after usage is ensured through easy reclosing of the bottle. Moreover, the user can easily recycle the packaging can by returning it to the dual system (plastic waste)

Which impact has the new packaging on transportation and storage?

Changing the packaging material has many advantages regarding transportation and storage. On the one hand the new material is much lighter – this results in less fuel needed and less CO2 emissions during the transportation. On the other hand, the synthetic material is resistant against rust formation.

How does the product and the packaging fit together?

The product itself has a positive effect on the car by the engine efficiency technology, by which emissions can be reduced and the performance of the car can be increased immediately. With the new packaging, both aspects get optimized, too. Due to lighter material and a better PCF (Product Carbon Footprint) through the whole life cycle of the packaging (from production to usage) emissions are lower. In addition, the application is more convenient which can have a positive effect on the whole application process in the workshop.

What do the icons on the label mean?

Climate neutral icon: Stands for a 100% climate neutral packaging. 80% recycled icon: Stands for the material used for this packaging, which is made out of 80% recycled synthetic material. TÜV certificate: Stands for proven effectiveness of the product in the areas of exhaust emission reduction, decrease of the fuel consumption and increase of the engine power.

Do I need a spout in order to fill the product into the tank?

With the new TUNBottle you do not need a spout. The technical specifications of the bottleneck comply with the standard and are able to overcome the misfuelling inhibitor.

Is the product suitable for end consumers?

The products 984 and 974 are also suitable for end consumers, as they have the necessary features, such as a child-proof lock and tactile warning signs.

What kind of synthetic materials are used?

The TUNBottle is made out of the following synthetic materials: rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate), PET (polyethylene terephthalate), rPP (recycled polypropylene), HD-PE (high density polyethylene).

What do we mean by shared responsibility?

By shared responsibility we mean that TUNAP is contributing in different environmental projects. Moreover, we put much work in research and development, because we are striving to increase the rPET share. We want to encourage you as our customer or user of the product to think carefully of the disposal: Please don’t break the cycle and dispose the bottle properly.

Which sustainable project does TUNAP support?

We are supporting a clean ocean project called “Plastic Bank” and the development of wind energy. You can find further information here.

Is the TUNBottle recyclable?

The TUNBottle is mainly made out of rPET (and PET), which is 100% recyclable. With proper disposal, the TUNBottle is added to the plastic disposal cycle and can be reused accordingly.

Is the lid also recyclable?

The lid is made of rPP (recycled polypropylen) and HD-PE (high density polyethylene) and is 100% recyclable, too.

What advantages has PET compared to other packaging materials?

Due to its low weight, PET has advantages during transport – glass is much heavier and thereby causing higher fuel consumption and emissions. PET material is 100% recyclable: It can be reused after the application. The PCF is quite low compared to other materials such as glass or tinplate, which leads to a lower environmental impact.

How high is the recycling rate for PET?

The recycling rate describes the proportion of recycled raw materials from a population. The recycling rates vary from country to country. In 2017, a total of 99% of plastic waste was recycled in Germany. Mechanical recycling accounted for 46% and energy recovery for 53%.

What is a proper disposal of PET?

Proper disposal is important for correct recycling of the TUNBottle. The TUNBottle must be thrown into the plastic waste - the green recycling circle is on the bottle label as an indication. Before the bottle is thrown into the plastic waste, it must be completely emptied and the lid screwed back on (Please always follow the country-specific disposal regulations).

What happens to a TUNBottle that is disposed of with the residual waste?

If the TUNBottle is not fed into the dual system (e.g. via the yellow sack or plastic waste in general) and ends up in the residual waste, it is used for energy recovery - it is usually incinerated. PET has a high calorific value that is comparable to paper, wood or lignite. Therefore, different industries like the cement industry to use this raw material to fire different stoves.
